Challenge
Catalyze Pittsburgh is launching Round 1 of its regional challenge, which promotes career-connected learning in Emerging industries and Emerging occupations in the region. Organizations in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Washington, and Westmoreland counties may begin preparing innovative ideas to introduce young people ages 11-18 to fulfilling pathways which will connect their passions to their future career success.
Emerging industries are new or rapidly growing sectors driven by technological innovation, such as biotechnology, aerospace, robotics, and artificial intelligence. Emerging occupations are new roles, or existing roles that are changing significantly, as technological innovations reshape how work is performed and the skills employers require.
Selected applicants will be awarded funding of up to $15,000 to refine their idea and prepare a competitive application for implementation funding.
Organisations selected after the planning period will be awarded implementation-focused funding of up to $350,000 for projects lasting 12-24 months.
Phase 1: Preparing an Application
(August 18th - October 30th, 2026)
Open call for innovative ideas to expand career-connected learning opportunities in Emerging industries and/or Emerging Occupations.
Phase 2: Refining the Innovation
(December 2026 – May 2027)
Receive up to $15,000 in planning funding to refine ideas and turn them into action plans.
